NEDLES SHANIA

Meet Nadles Shania, a 4 years old girl living in Kawangware informal settlement with her single mother together with her siblings. Shania and her family have resided in Kawangware slums for 3 years now and they consider this slum as their domicile. Shania’s father abandoned them long time ago when Shania was born and they have been under the care of their mother until now. Their household is consisting of 4 members in total this includes her single mother. Shania is the last born in this small family. Currently, Shania is not going to school simply because her mother cannot afford to pay her school fees. She is supposed to be in pre-primary1 right now but the economic and financial challenges have hindered her from going to school. Despite being a bright girl in class the school administration won’t afforded to keep her in school simply because her school fees kept on piling. At home they sometimes depend on one meal per day whenever there is nothing to eat or borrow from their neighbors. Her mother is unemployed and only depend on odd and minor jobs like cleaning/washing other people’s clothes in order of her to earn an income. Since this job is not guaranteed she sometimes come home without earning any money. Shania’s family are Christians and she have hopes that one day she will go back to school and learn like other children. They live in a small house, a house that is made of iron sheet, but the problem is that they have a balance for 2 months fearing that their landlord might throw them out of their house if they are still not paying. Her mother was requesting for support so that Shania can go back to school. When things remains as it is right now, Shania’s future to become a teacher might be ruined
