BRILLIANT CHEPKEMOI

Brilliant Chepkemoi is a10 years old girl residing in Kawangware informal settlement together with her parents and her other siblings. They have resided in Kawangware slums for more than 3 years and this is their domicile. They are a total of 6 members in their household this includes her parents and her siblings. Even though her parents consider her as their child, Brilliant was only adopted since her real parents who are unknown aborted her in the pit latrine and her current parents rescued her. His parents are currently unemployed and they only rely on odd and minor jobs for survival. Currently, Brilliant’s mother is only doing a work of washing other peoples clothes so as to earn an income. Her father is also relying on working in a construction sites a job that is not guaranteed by doing this they find a means of supporting their family in terms of food. Brilliant is not going to school for now due to the fact that her parents cannot afford to pay her school fees. She has been out of school for 6 months now and her parents feels that Brilliant’s future might be ruined. She was supposed to be in grade 5 right now but financial instability in their home has made her to be out of school. At home they also face a challenge of food meaning that sometimes they lack food to eat at home. Her parent’s work is not guaranteed and they are sometimes forced to take one meal per day or sleep hungry. Brilliant and her family are living in a small house that is made out of iron sheet a house that has not been equipped with furniture. Sometimes his family lack money to buy even water forcing them to borrow from their neighbors. Brilliant doesn’t have any good clothes, she relies on those one that are old and worn out and this has made most of her friends to avoid her
