RYAN NZYOKA

Meet Ryan Nzyoka a 10 years old boy living in Kawangware informal settlement together with his single mother and his siblings. They are a total of 6 members in their household this includes his single mother. They have resided in Kawangware since 2010 a place which they consider as their place of domicile. Ryan’s biological father passed away long time ago when Ryan was still a little child and he left the mantle to his mother to take care or Ryan and his other siblings. Previously they were living in south c but due to house demolition they found their selves in Kawangware slums sleeping in the street. Currently Ryan is not going to school reason being is that his mother cannot afford to pay his school fees simply because she is unemployed and don’t have any extra amount to pay. She only depends on odd and minor jobs like washing clothes for his neighbors so as to earn a small income which she uses in feeding her family. At the same time his mother is an Asthmatic patient meaning that sometimes she may end up using money meant for food in her medication. After moving to Kawangware their lives became miserable forcing them to sleep in a house that is made of polyethene which was putting their health into risk. At home food is a problem, they sometimes depend on borrowing food or begging so as to have an end meat. Whenever they lack food, they are forced to sleep hungry and wait what tomorrow will give. Ryan’s mother was requesting for any available support so that Ryan can go to school like any other child. His mother feels like Ryan’s future might be ruined if he lacks education and she feel that one day through education Ryan might help their family.
