LILIAN LUTESHI

Lilian Luteshi is an 8 years old girl living in Kawangware informal settlement together with her single mother and his elder brother. They have domiciled in Kawangware for more than 4 years now. Lilian’s father passed away long time ago when Lilian and her brother were still young. Her mother was the one who was left with the responsibility of taking care of them. Life in the slums has not been that promising as they hope, challenges have exceeded good life which they hope for. Her mother is the only bread winner in this family and without her things might bee too difficult for Lilian and her brother. Currently, Lilian is not going to school simply because the school administration sends her home never to return without school fees. Her mother is not in a capacity of raising her school fees at the same time raising house rent. Her mother weighs house rent as more important than school. Lilian was supposed to be in grade 2 it has been too difficult for her mother to raise that amount. Food is also considered as a major problem in their home simply because her mother cannot afford to cater for their daily food. Most of the time they end up going to bed hungry or even having one meal per day. Lilian’s family is also at risk of being kicked out of their house because they have a house balance for more than 1 month now. His mother doesn’t have any insurance cover and this puts Lilian at risk incase of any disaster. Lilian and his brother have been avoided with their friends because of poverty
